Seemingly frustrating, yet fulfilling…

It is possible, it happens, and I had a “major major” blast!  2 Sundays ago, my son and I, together with our Triathlon team, liveRIGHT, were set to do our team run.

I was after my “best personal time” for the 10k and my son, Joax, together with a teammate, will run a 5k.

Frustratingly, my son “chickened” out, not because he’s didn’t want to run, but because he was embarrassed to run with someone he barely knows.  So there goes my attempt to do a good run.  I told him that I’ll just run with him, but to my surprise, he wanted to run 10k with me!

So we did. We ran together!

And it was one of my most FULFILLING times as a father.  We ran for 1 hour and 10mins.  My talkative son just talked, and talked, and talked!  Never even gasping for air, he had all the oxygen to tell me stories of his adventures, his crushes, his studies and even his prayers! The things that he wanted GOD to change in him just came out in the open without any effort on my end.

And all I had to do was just to run with him.

It was definitely not my “best personal time”, but it was unquestionably one of my LIFE’s BEST TIMES!

It’s always the father-son connection that gets me all misty and puddled with mixed emotions. It is always nice to share with our sons their explorations of life and their taste of the Lord’s goodness.
