The year begins.
We are excited for a fresh start, a new season, new opportunities, open doors and for some a second shot at things.
As we start this new year, there is something ‘old’ that we are sure to encounter. Battles, trials, challenges. This unrelenting life circumstance.
Some are actually caused by the consequences of our own actions (stupidity, at times) and some are actually caused by an enemy. The ancient serpent.
A sore loser – kick-out from heaven. He saw the pinnacle of God’s creation, mankind, as the object of His love, favor & blessings and decided to pick on humanity. He cannot take God head on, so he decides to pick a fight with you and me.
The fight begins.
And God, in His mercy, grace, compassion, love, etc… declares the ultimate end of this battle and the very hope of humanity. God declares victory in its original and embryo form.
Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head and you will strike his heel”
The woman’s offspring, Jesus Christ, will crush the serpent on the cross. Victory in a nutshell. Paving the way for our personal victory in every battle the enemy brings on to us.
I like how, John, one of my friends summarizes this assured victory…
“I don’t know what will happened next, but I know how it will end”.
So yes, the year begins, fight begins, we don’t know what will happen next, but we definitely know how it will end.
